MyID Travel and Non-Rev Flight Loads

11

Arriving at an airport and having your ID stolen can be one of the worst travel nightmares imaginable, so what are your options if this should occur to you?

MyIDTravel, developed by Lufthansa Systems for airline staff to list and book non-rev tickets online, also includes limited functionality to check flight loads.

What is myIDTravel?

MyIDTravel is an intuitive online software solution that simplifies booking and traveling on interline and industry discount flights for airline staff. Created by Lufthansa Industry Solutions, myIDTravel gives airlines and their employees an effective way to manage ID travel.

MyIDTravel provides load factor information for each flight bucket (Y is economy class), along with how many seats are currently available and whether the fare bucket is full, providing valuable insight into whether a space-available seat assignment may be available.

myIDTravel provides another valuable feature for Pilots by enabling them to prelist for JetBlue flights despite flying American. This makes checking in much quicker without having to call ahead, which is often required when flying ZED flights on American.

If your ticket starts with “001,” an entry will automatically be created in myIDTravel when purchasing your ticket through myIDTravel; otherwise, if purchased elsewhere or starting with another airline’s numbering system, a listing must be made directly through them – for more details please refer to myIDTravel’s Carriers tab.

How do I cancel & refund a myIDTravel ticket?

Depending upon your airline’s reservation system, some flights may become packed with no seats left for sale and must be canceled, or partially used e-tickets must be refunded. In this event, balancing myID travel listing before requesting a refund is vital in ensuring unutilized segments return to their ticketing airline and avoiding additional fees or penalties that may incur future fees or fines.

Once logged in, select My Travel List from the navigation bar and then “Flight Schedule Query” to quickly view flight availability for your itinerary. Alternatively, if you prefer an all-airlines view, be aware that this may make routings not eligible for standby listing through myID travel.

If you can’t find what you are searching for, try using different dates or flight numbers or review past trips by clicking Your Trips.

My Trips offers access to your PNR references and electronic tickets, enabling you to review them at your leisure and cancel any listings, with refund options being made available via the Get Refund tab if applicable; however, service providers often charge convenience fees when processing these transactions.

If you are part of a staff travel program, seeing if other members have already claimed your allotment is essential. This can be accomplished by reviewing Your flight list and selecting the Travel Partners tab; should it have already been claimed, contact the appropriate person within your organization’s travel department immediately for assistance.

MyIDTravel access will automatically be suspended if you fail to log in for six consecutive months or are on leave (such as parental, maternity, LOA, WCB, or LTD leave). Six months must have passed without interruption to reactivate myIDtravel accounts with Canadian North – for example, maternity, LOA or LTD leaves are sufficient grounds.

How do you get accurate flight loads for your non-rev flights?

Non-rev travel is one of the best job perks in the airline industry. It allows airline employees to fly on other airlines (even outside their own) as long as they participate in ZED agreements (Zonal Employee Discount agreements), giving you access to more fantastic destinations your airline doesn’t directly serve. Unfortunately, however, with such travel comes the challenge of knowing accurate flight loads at any moment, but there are resources out there that can provide precise load estimates for non-rev flights.

MyIDTravel and ID90 Travel provide up-to-date load factor data indicating whether a flight has space-available seat assignments. This data is displayed as green, yellow, or red “smiley” icons in the fare column of search results; these represent different load factors, including Economy and Premium Economy seating classes, respectively, and can help plan or prioritize which flights to try first.

However, these smiley icons can often be misleading and inaccurately reflect flight conditions. For instance, an airline may list an airline flight as “Yellow Smiley” when its seats have sold out entirely and overbooking occurs on that particular flight.

StaffTraveler provides an indispensable service for checking flight loads from any location worldwide, displaying current fare buckets and how many seats are still open on each leg of your journey. This free app also shows existing fare buckets so that you know exactly when to sell seats on each leg of your trip.

Accurate flight loads for non-rev flights are an essential element of successful airline commuting, and with the right tools, can make life much more straightforward and manageable when it comes to airline commuting. Spend less time asking around on social media or placing bets on non-descript smiley icons and more time enjoying what makes flying genuinely fulfilling!
