How to Map Custom Fields to Projects and Clients

One of the most significant obstacles to saving money is succumbing to instant gratification. One way to combat this is making major purchases after some time has passed so you have time to consider each investment before committing. Tracking expenses is also essential, whether by pen and paper, spreadsheet, or a free expense tracking app – make sure each penny counts!

Create a custom form.

Long surveys on mobile devices can quickly become daunting for families. To ease this anxiety, you can add sections to the form to break it into more manageable chunks for responding. Click the last button in the right toolbar to add one and name/define its type accordingly.

Each question type comes equipped with its settings, providing a range of customizable options. For instance, multiple choice fields offer you the chance to add answer choices and decide whether the question jumps directly to another question depending on their selection, display a progress bar, shuffle the order of answers, or allow multiple submissions.

Conditional logic allows you to show or hide questions based on how volunteers answer previous ones; for example, you could create a query that appears only if volunteers indicate whether or not they are new or returning volunteers. You can also make one question admin-only so only you will see (and can respond to it).

Once your questions and sections are ready, click “Save & Publish Form” in the top right corner to save and publish them live on your site. You may drag and drop individual questions within sections for better organization; however, entire areas cannot be rearranged.

Create a custom field.

If you require a form field that does not fall within our native areas, content extensions provide a way to create custom fields. To do so, navigate to your stack and click on the gear icon before selecting “Extensions.”

Please enter the code for your custom field and select its Title in the Extension creation window. Additionally, optional Config Parameters and Source Doc URLs may also be specified if hosting is desired for this extension on Contentstack.

Once your custom field has been created, select its Field Section. Later, you may be able to adjust this section; just be careful, as changing it could break integrations or Search experiences. In addition, add a Field Description so clients understand why the field exists as well as any additional information needed from them for its creation. Click “Save” when finished to make it available both to yourself and clients as well as anyone viewing an issue where the custom field exists.

Create a custom field value.

Form fields mapped to client and project fields allow your clients to enter whatever answers they give in their form field into that location, making this ideal if you want to collect long responses like first name from clients – use a short answer question with field mappings in place, like first name. There are various question fields you can choose from, including country, currency, date and time (date&time), gender (gender), number (number of characters), IP address text, URL text, etc, and each offers various sets of options that your clients can select or enter text directly into this area of their profile page.

Create a custom field name.

Your client will see the name of the custom field you create on their form when answering the question. If it’s linked to a project/client field, whatever they type in will be stored as that value in that project/client field.

If you want to create a unique field name that isn’t offered from the list, right-click and select Inspect on your form field. This will open a window that allows you to manually find its code and copy and paste it into a clipboard for later.

Create a custom question field and map it to any project or client field to collect any necessary data from clients. When they answer the question, their response will be saved automatically in that location – perfect for question types like country, currency, date and time, gender, IP address number, phone, text, URL, etc. To create one, select it, then add any options for people to choose from when setting it up.
